What business accomplishment are you most proud of?
My big moments happen when we discover a strategic alignment between Hallmark and our clients. After a committed journey of sharing insights, sales data and listening to each other, you find a win/win.

What was the best advice you ever got about business?
Under-promise; over-deliver. Always, always do what you say you were going to do, but make the results better than anyone would ever have expected.

Why are you passionate about your job at Hallmark?
How many brands aside from Hallmark can say they have the privilege of being invited in at people’s most emotional moments? Celebrating? We’re with you. Sad? We’re there for you. That gives Hallmark tremendous power in the business market. I believe that employees and customers want to be acknowledged, encouraged and appreciated by the companies they work for or do business with.  Hallmark understands the right communication for the situation- we can help businesses do what we’ve been doing for consumers for over 100 years.

What inspires you?
I read. From mountains of magazines to business journals to entertainment weeklies and daily email digests. They satisfy and fuel my curiosity.

I’m also a member of Hallmark’s leadership women’s network, and it’s a place I turn to for advice and camaraderie. My peers are experienced, forthright and helpful.

What do you think is the biggest challenge for businesses today?
Breaking through. People are bombarded with information and messages, so keeping up with quickly changing consumer preferences, marketplace disruptions and evolving technology is ever in our forefront.

How do you balance out your work life?
I simply integrate both aspects. I may take a call from my child at 2 p.m. in the workday and create a presentation at 9 p.m. at night.  If I’ve been out of town for business for an extended period of time, I stay at home for breakfast and leave the office early to be in the pick up line at school on the day I return. I always say if I hold myself to the same standards I hold my kids to, I’ll be a better person in my personal and professional life. Things like: Make healthy choices. Don’t say unkind things. Don’t give up. And believe me, when I fall short, my children are right there to echo my words back to me.
