Improving Health Risk Assessment Completion with Incentive Solutions
Background:
This case study is about how implementing an employee incentive program offering awards as opposed to cash in coordination with a health and wellness program increased the completion of health risk assessments for the organization.
Washington State Health Care Authority’s objective was to increase health risk assessment (HRA) completions. Under their wellness program, employees took an HRA and completed an eligible healthy activity to receive a $30 check.
Solution:
Hallmark Business Connections replaced the organization's cash incentives for HRA completions with an award that could be redeemed for a choice of hundreds of gift cards. Awards were emailed to members twice a week decreasing the delivery time of the reward by up to 30 days.
Results:
- Health risk assessment completions increased by 59%
- Customized award branding reinforced the recipients' healthy behavior and Washington State Health Care Authority's objectives
- Participation increased with the emailed award incentive even though the $30 amount remained static year over year
